In the Second Petition of the Lord’s Prayer, “Thy Kingdom Come,” we ask that the Lord would grant us His Holy Spirit so that we would believe the Word that is proclaimed to us, and so enter into His blessed feast. Today we give thanks that the Lord has brought us in from the alleys and highways of sin, and we ask that He would continue to grant us His Spirit so that we listen when He calls.

Faith Counted for Righteousness
Text: Genesis 15:1-6 If you could put bright blinking lights into the text of Scripture or somehow change the letters in our Bibles from black to neon yellow, so as to get our attention, our text today would be a wonderful candidate for such treatment. You Must Be Born Again
This confounded Nicodemus at first, but in the end he knew it to be true. Those who enter the kingdom of God are not those who work for it. We are brought into the kingdom by the work of the Holy Spirit through the Word.
The Holy Spirit, The Comforter
The Spirit comforts us with the promise that through Christ’s death and resurrection, we are truly forgiven. The result is that we have the peace which the world cannot give. We have an eternal peace with God the Father through the resurrection of His Son.

When we are brought to repentance through the knowledge of our sins, when we are aware of what punishment deservedly awaits us, Jesus bids us look to Him and live.
He Has Become My Salvation
The Lord has turned away His anger toward us as individuals. He had mercy and sent His Son to die for you and me. He became our salvation and brought us together in fellowship.
With Wings Like Eagles
The Lord alone is the everlasting God who has compassion and gives strength. We need only wait for Him in faith, and He will make us mount up as on eagles’ wings.
I Myself Will Be the Shepherd
Through the Word and the Sacraments, the ministry of Jesus continues. He continues to be our shepherd, and we His people. He bids us take comfort in this and rejoice. And so, we do.
