Micah knew that the Lord does not retain His anger forever, but will again have compassion on His people. From him we learn that the Lord will, indeed, have compassion on His people on the Final Day, even as He pardons and forgives us now in Christ.
This Sun promised by God, would be His own Son, Jesus Christ. The healing that He brings is the forgiveness He earned for us by His perfect keeping of the Law and by the giving of His life in trade for ours. The healing He gives is the free, full, and complete forgiveness of sins.
This is how our Lord’s return will be. He will come at an hour we do not expect. Therefore, lest we be found unwise and unprepared, He encourages us to keep watch and ready to enter His wedding feast.
Our Lord’s judgment will not be some long drawn-out procedure, but an immediate pronouncement and separation of the righteous from the wicked. And this is the judgment, Jesus said, “whoever hears My Word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life. He does not come into judgement, but has passed from death to life.” (Jn. 5:24)
As we approach the end of the Church Year, we hear our Lord’s teaching about the destruction of Jerusalem and His return. One will come with a warning; the other, not.

Text: Mark 16:1-8 Have you ever put something down and then, when you went back for it, it moved? Remote controls and keys are notorious for this. You set them down and come back, and somehow, they aren’t where you left them. It’s like whatever it was grew a set of legs and walked off.Continue reading “He is Going Before You”

Text: Mark 13:24-37 Jesus said, “Concerning that day or that hour, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard, keep awake. For you do not know when the time will come.” These words, along with our text last week – as I said lastContinue reading “The Coming of the Son of Man”
